pilates and pregnancy

When I was pregnant, Pilates became my anchor. As my body changed and my son (a stubborn little frank breech!) grew, movement became both a challenge and a necessity. Pilates helped me stay strong, connected, and mobile through every stage — right up until the week before my scheduled c-section. It supported my posture, relieved back and hip pain, improved circulation, and helped me maintain deep core and pelvic floor awareness — all of which made a huge difference in how I carried, moved, and even breathed. It kept me dancing, grounded, and present in my body when everything else felt unpredictable. Those hours on the mat gave me a sense of control and calm that I really needed, especially when my birth plan shifted and my pregnancy didn’t go quite as “planned.”

After giving birth, Pilates was the foundation of my recovery — it supported me in healing, rebuilding my core, and reconnecting with my body. It’s the reason I was able to start teaching and performing again just two months postpartum. Movement played a huge role in my mental health too — it reminded me that even small, intentional moments of strength matter. The benefits of prenatal Pilates go far beyond pregnancy: it can ease common discomforts, support a smoother recovery, and help you move confidently through every stage of motherhood.

If you’re pregnant (or newly postpartum) and looking for a way to stay active, connected, and strong through your journey, my Prenatal Pilates Plan includes five adaptable videos you can use throughout your entire pregnancy and beyond. It’s not about perfection — it’s about staying present and feeling empowered in your own body.
